The Dhi Qar Branch of the Veterinary Doctors Syndicate received a delegation from the office of Member of Parliament Ahmed Al-Rumaidh to discuss several issues related to the veterinary sector, most notably the activation of the Veterinary Medical Internship Law, the rise in hemorrhagic fever cases, and the state of health monitoring in the slaughterhouse, amid assurances of support for veterinarians’ demands and follow-up with the concerned authorities.
As part of the syndicate’s efforts to communicate with officials, members of parliament, and decision-makers, and in line with the directives of the General President, the Dhi Qar Branch of the Veterinary Doctors Syndicate received a delegation from the office of MP Ahmed Al-Rumaidh headed by Dr. Ali Jawad. The delegation was welcomed by the Head of the Branch, Dr. Alaa Samir Al-Salihi, and Dr. Hossam Ghadban. During the meeting, the delegation conveyed MP Ahmed Al-Rumaidh’s confirmation of his support for the demands of veterinarians and his commitment to following them up, in a way that contributes to strengthening the role of the veterinary sector and supporting its workforce. The meeting discussed several important issues, most notably the activation of the Veterinary Medical Internship Law and efforts to include it within the general budget, given its importance in supporting graduates and providing job opportunities for newly graduated veterinarians. The meeting also addressed the increasing cases of hemorrhagic fever in the governorate, as well as the condition of the slaughterhouse and the weak health monitoring it suffers from, which poses a threat to public health and requires strengthening preventive and monitoring measures to limit the spread of zoonotic diseases. At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation affirmed that these issues would be among the priorities of MP Ahmed Al-Rumaidh’s work, in coordination with the relevant authorities, in support of the veterinary sector and in addressing health challenges in Dhi Qar Governorate, in a way that ensures better protection of public health and community safety.
